Mark Apker

Welcoming Our First Professor of Practice in Real Estate

We are pleased to share exciting news for the future of real estate education at the Lundquist College of Business. Mark Apker has joined us to become the college's first Professor of Practice in real estate, bringing with him a rare combination of industry leadership, legal expertise, and academic experience.

"This hire would not have been possible without philanthropic donations from our alumni and friends who care deeply about the UO having a real estate program," said Bob Brothers, senior director of development at the Lundquist College. "We thank those who have contributed early to bring this program to life."

Apker will join us in fall 2026 from Cornell University, where he is currently serving as a visiting lecturer in the Paul Rubacha Department of Real Estate. At Cornell, he taught courses in real estate development, residential and commercial development, and federal public lands and natural resources law, while also advising independent studies, the Cornell Real Estate Review, and national real estate case competitions.

In addition to his academic work, Apker brings more than a decade of senior-level industry experience. Most recently, he served as head of corporate services for customer services sourcing at Adobe, leading a global organization overseeing approximately $2 billion in annual spend and playing a key role in large-scale, first-in-class real estate and workplace development projects. His prior roles include category manager for global workplace solutions at Adobe, commercial real estate consulting and brokerage services, and real estate-focused legal work in both the public and private sectors.

Apker holds a JD from Lewis & Clark College Law School, an MBA from Brigham Young University, and a bachelor's degree in political science. He is a member of the Oregon State Bar Association and brings deep expertise at the intersection of real estate development, land use, sustainability, and strategic operations.

At the Lundquist College, Apker will serve as the faculty advisor for the UO Real Estate Investment Group. In addition, he will teach the following courses: Survey of Real Estate, Real Estate Development, and Real Estate Law, as well as additional real estate courses as they are developed.

We are thrilled to welcome Apker to the Lundquist College community and look forward to the impact his leadership and experience will have on our students and real estate initiatives.
